What Is Bicycle Day?
On April 19th, 1943, Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann took the world's first intentional LSD trip — and rode his bicycle home through Basel, Switzerland, experiencing what would become one of the most consequential afternoons in the history of consciousness. That date has been celebrated by psychedelic culture ever since, and blotter art — the paper medium most associated with LSD — is at the center of that tradition.
