The Grateful Reverend OO Liberty Skrollz Blotter Art

The Grateful Reverend 00 Liberty Skrollz is a globally recognized blotter artist whose interest in gnostic philosophies, creative arts, and psychedelic explorations began with his parents’ counterculture visions and beliefs.

Skrollz' first memories include an interest in sex, drugs, psychedelic art, and rock’n’roll; therefore, it is no surprise that his lifestyle choices have mirrored his childhood influences.

As long as Skrollz can remember, he has wanted to be a beatnik poet, a transcendental philosopher, and a psychedelic artist; however, due to life’s circumstances, Skrollz never really practiced art, except for doodling until the late 1990s.

After high school, Skrollz was offered a job as an apprentice tattoo artist at a local tattoo parlor, but he turned it down for various reasons.

Then, around this same time, he met a young lady on String Cheese tour while in Steamboat Springs, Colorado who asked him to design her a String Cheese shirt.

After he digitally designed that String Cheese shirt, his friends and family encouraged him to begin digitally designing and printing his own t-shirts.

Due to his interests in blotter art as well as fractal art, Skrollz initially began printing one of a kind blotter art shirts based on blotter art he and his friends, the Gorilla Brothers, were collecting throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Skrollz designed and printed t-shirts until he joined the Peace Corps in 2005.

One day while he was hanging out at the nearest Peace Corps office, he discovered some iron-on t-shirt sublimation paper, so he quickly used the office’s computers to make and to print three satirical iron-on patches of the country’s tyrannical president.

Unfortunately after the first patch was successfully printed, the papers began jamming the printer which provoked another member of his team to call for security’s help.

After investigating and repairing the printer, the security officer confiscated the final two crumbled prints.

Eventually, Skrollz was removed from the country and the Peace Corps for political activism.

Upon returning to the states, Skrollz continued making psychedelic art as well as designing and printing t-shirts.

This led him to become introduced to Zane Kesey who produced Skrollz’ first four blotters: The Psychedelic Pioneers, Steal Your Terrapin, I’m a Hog for You/I Can’t Get Enough of Your Love (Steal Your Face Pumbaa), and Damn It Feels to Be a Prankster (Original Mad Hatter drawing digitally remixed).

It was a dream come true for Skrollz to produce blotter art with Key-z, but it was not anything he expected or really planned to continue to pursue.

Then CtrlAltDub and the blotterart.io family reached out to Skrollz about collaborating on some art.

The first Skrollz by CtrlAltDub blotter art production was a double-sided Welcome Home Rainbow Family and Native American Sacred Medicine print which represents both of the artistic family’s fundamental values as well as their personal backgrounds.

The Welcome Home Rainbow Family and Native American Sacred Medicine print was also a tribute to the self-sustaining indigenous practices of our native ancestors and the contemporary activists who continue to fight for humanitarian rights.

Since their first collaboration, CtrlAltDub and Skrollz have produced several more blotters together, but as of 2021, Skrollz has been on hiatus and has not produced any new blotter art or revealed any new designs.

Literary Work – The Poetic Hart

Beyond blotter art, Skrollz is also the author of The Poetic Hart — an independently published, journal-style anthology blending personal writings, poetry, photography, artwork, and reflective journaling.
