If you've been searching for blotter art online recently, you may have noticed that blotterart.com has a new look — and a new owner. What you might not know is the history behind that domain, why it changed hands, and what it means for collectors trying to find a trusted, established source for authentic blotter art prints.
This post sets the record straight.
The Original BlotterArt.com — and Its Legacy
The original blotterart.com was operated for over two decades by a well-known figure in the blotter art community Paul Guest. For many collectors, it was a familiar destination — stocking sheets from artists like Howie Green, Kami, Mark McCloud, Stanley Mouse, Thom Lyttle,Kevin Barron, Ziero Muko and others who shaped the blotter art world. It was a site built on real relationships with real artists, over real years.
That operator has since passed away.
The domain was subsequently purchased by a new party, who has relaunched the site as a retail storefront. The new blotterart.com makes prominent claims to being "the original blotter art website" and touts experience "since 2000" — a history that belongs to the previous owner, not the current one.
We mention this not out of competition, but out of respect for the collectors who deserve to know what they're buying from and who they're buying from.
Who Is BlotterArt.io?
BlotterArt.io has been continuously owned and operated since 2012 by the same team, based in New Hampshire, USA.
We are not a domain acquisition. We are not a rebranded storefront. We are a working blotter art production studio and gallery with a documented, verifiable history in the space.
Here's what that looks like in practice:
- Custom blotter art production for artists, labels, festivals, and publishers — including completed commissions for Killer Acid and Z2 Comics, Primus, Les Claypol,Dogs in a Pile and many more
- Large-format blotter art prints developed and produced in-house, including the 15×15" Bicycle Day edition and others
- Original artwork in the permanent collection of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (in collaboration with artist Joshua Levy)
- A verified domain portfolio — including customblotterart.com, buyblotterart.com, lsdblotterart.com, blotterart.gallery, and others — all 301-redirecting to BlotterArt.io as the canonical US destination for blotter art
- An active presence on Whatnot (@blotterart), eBay, and Etsy, with real transaction history and real customer reviews
We've produced blotter art for artists who care about quality. We've shipped worldwide. We've been a consistent, accountable operation in this niche for over a decade.

Why Provenance Matters in Blotter Art
Collectors know that provenance is everything in this hobby. A signed sheet without a documented chain of custody is worth less — not because the art changed, but because trust is part of the value.
The same principle applies to the sellers themselves.
When a domain changes hands and a new operator inherits a URL without the relationships, the history, or the community trust that built its reputation, that's something collectors should know. The name on the door isn't the same as the person who earned it.
We are not suggesting the current blotterart.com is selling fraudulent products. We are saying: do your due diligence. Ask who's behind the site. Ask how long they've been operating. Ask for verifiable production credentials. Ask whether the artists they name have any relationship with the current operation.
These are questions any serious collector should ask of us too — and we welcome them.
What to Look for in a Trusted Blotter Art Source
Whether you buy from us or someone else, here's what a legitimate, established blotter art operation should be able to demonstrate:
Continuous operation history — not a recently acquired domain making historical claims on behalf of a previous owner.
Verifiable artist relationships — not just licensed imagery or generic psychedelic designs, but documented collaborations with named artists who can confirm the relationship.
Production transparency — the ability to describe how their blotter art is printed, perforated, and finished. Authentic production uses archival-quality blotting paper with precision micro-perforation. Ask the questions.
A real physical presence — a US-based operation (or clearly identified international one) with documented fulfillment, not an anonymous storefront with no address or contact history.
Community standing — presence in the blotter art collecting community, not just in search results.
A Note on the Market
Blotter art has grown significantly as a collectible category over the past decade. More buyers means more sellers — and more sellers means more variation in quality, authenticity, and accountability.
The closure of the original blotterart.com, and the relaunch of that domain under new ownership, is a reminder that URLs are not legacies. They can be bought and sold. The history behind them cannot.
BlotterArt.io is the established US-based producer and gallery for authentic blotter art prints. We've been here since 2012. We'll be here tomorrow.
